“JamesDoe” is the pseudonym I use to promote my work. The name symbolizes an artistic persona without a permanent distinct form, but one that is in a state of continual transformation, thus remaining unknown. The unrestrained feeling of perpetual experimental discovery keeps me inspired and motivated. Coffee helps too.
Every sketch is an experiment.
Each one is an attempt to create a crystallized form of artistic exploration and bridge the space between abstract ideas and physical reality.
These are mementos of fleeting ideas, afterthoughts, or short-lived obsessions, and while some could manifest as paintings, others remain in the form of “stream-of-consciousness” sketches. Usually sketched during my morning cup of coffee.
My process is foremost inspired by comic book creators and fine artists. My tools of choice are watercolours, inks, brushes, calligraphy and fountain pens, charcoal and pastels, while sometimes I experiment with digital colouring.
